Some jokes are fun for all, but some jokes are fun for the person doing them alone. Being annoying in a Xelloss (Slayers) way can be fun, but you have to know when to stop because it's not causing fun but rage.

Be very careful with that... Some people don't talk as naturally as it's needed for this to work. What if they are choosing the words for you to believe what they want? Sometimes, trying to understand somebody could be even weaker to manipulation.
It's the shield system. You may get shot, but only lose your shields. You can hide, wait for your shields to recharge, dash out and blast their arse. In UT, you got one health bar, so dashing in, guns blazing, is the best tatic. I'm just pointing out a true statement.
BTW, what does this ice cube do? It sounds cool.

WTF?! Did you even play UT? There are shields there too, except they don't recharge, you have to pick them up. What skill is a recharging shield? just turtle and shoot? In UT it'd be more like: You lose your shields, try getting to more heatlh or shields while dodging fire...
The thing is everyone has a shield. If you need to protect yourself, you have to hide away. Your shields recharge, but so do your enemy's. So you have to risk dieing to kill the enemy, or struggle to take out his shields again. It also depends on how good you are in combat and how well you understand the weapons. If you're good enough, you can dodge their assult bullets, take their shields down with the plasma rifle and blast them a new A-hole with the shotgun.
I did play UT. Shields are just extra health in that game. It means you can run and shoot for longer. While you can pick up more, you'll need to run away and find some. Then you might get killed by the enemy anyway. I guess that would need more skill, but it's very basic, and it's not very stratgic either. Weapons are good, i like the second function too. But without recharging shields, you can use any old weapon. It only depends on how fast it fires or how explosive it is.
IRT Xel: Just like you said with different gametypes on UT, there are different ones on Halo. You can choose no shields, and all that good stuff. If you try to turtle in a big game, it'll probably be at your base. Otherwise if you turtle you are very easily killed. Snipers, and even a n00b with an AR can pwn while you do this. I can usually take down someone before they even take my shields down. It really depends on what is happening and where you are if you want to turtle or not. Sometimes it is wise to turtle such as in a Blood Gultch cave while you know a Sniper is out there. Or near almost any door/teleporter.
If you don't like shields, go in a game without them. If you do like them, then go in a game with them.
To me, FPS relies more on accuracy, quik thinking, knowing what weapon to use when, and good reflex. Strategy comes in when in modes like CTF.
And in UT, it isn't just run in and blast everything... agian, you're playing at the newb level of play iwth the newbs. You won't see too many good players on there until the actual game comes out...
